Context Will Not Create Itself

This morning the bank sent me its annual KYB request: upload fresh financial statements and, for some reason, the articles of association, which have not changed.

Claude in the browser cannot log in anywhere, at least not without some workarounds, so I asked it to open a tab for itself, I logged in, and it uploaded everything.

Why do it this way, which is obviously more work, instead of doing it all myself? Uploading a couple of documents is hardly great automation.

What matters to me is that the agent has the right context for the tasks that come next. What if tomorrow the bank asks 10 follow-up questions? By then it will be harder for me to answer them myself. And what if those 10 bring more?

Every time I do something this way, I ask it to save a short entry in a "diary", a plain text (markdown) file.

Slava will wake up soon and tell me this is grandpa advice from 2025 and nobody does it anymore: Claude Code writes MEMORY files by itself (effectively the same thing, only in a separate directory, automatic, and before doing anything it checks for relevant entries). Well, this feels more reliable to me, sorry.

It seems to me that working through most tasks with Claude comes more naturally to experienced managers who have learned to delegate. If a counterparty asks for an invoice, they do not make it themselves, they ask the accountant, even when they could do it faster on their own.

Work like this, keep a history of most of what you do, and later there are fewer reasons to write on social media: "see, AI knows nothing..."

All sorts of things grow out of this approach. You can ask the agent to analyse what you spent the whole week on. Or a proactive agent reminds you in a couple of days to check the online bank: were the documents accepted, or do they need something else?

While I was uploading the statements, the agent noticed that the company stamp is old: the company address changed long ago. Tomorrow morning "order a new stamp" will certainly land in my "tasks of the day". And it is right.
