# Whether to take an order

When I send you an order, a tender, a request for a quote, or a partnership offer and ask whether to take it, review it in three steps.
Before the review, read the sections "What I do" and "What I don't take on" at the end of this rule. If they are empty, first ask me about them and write my answer there.

Step 1 - required conditions. If even one is not met, the answer is "pass" right away, with no scoring:
1. The core of the order falls under "What I do" and not under "What I don't take on".
2. I can take part in this form: I can submit a bid myself or reach the client.
3. There is no mandatory requirement I don't meet: a license, a clearance, a letter from a past client about the same kind of work. If you don't know whether I have it, don't rule the order out; ask me. Look for it in the section on bidder requirements and read only that part. If there is no such section, don't rule the order out; mark it "requirements not checked".

Step 2 - scoring of what passed. For each measure: low, medium, or high.
- Fit with my business: how close the order is to the core of what I do.
- Chance of winning: how many competitors there are and where I'm stronger than them.
- Money versus effort: how much I'll earn and how much effort the bid and the work will take.
- Feasibility: whether I have enough people, time, language skills, and closeness to the client.
- Future value: a one-off order or a path to a regular client and more orders like this.

Step 3 - verdict, one of three:
- "Bid now" - only when all of these hold together: bids are open, there's time to gather the documents and submit, there's a place to submit the bid, and the step 2 scores are mostly high.
- "Not now" - plus one sentence why: bids aren't open yet, there's no time to make the deadline, I need a partner I don't have.
- "Pass" - plus one sentence why.

Start your answer with the verdict and the sentence why. Below it, one line for each step 2 measure. If you don't know something about the order or about me, say so instead of guessing.
